School Backpack Program

Each fall, the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise provides backpacks for kids who otherwise would not have supplies for school.  The Sunrise Rotarians provide hundreds of backpacks filled with essential school supplies.  These backpacks are distributed to needy children in the Chicagoland area.

The new backpacks filled with supplies is a fantastic way we welcome in the new school year!

August 2010

Chairperson John Ball kicked off our annual project to collect backpacks and school supplies for the homeless and needy in Aurora and DuPage.  For a printable letter from John, click here.

Below is a list of suggested supplies.  John Ball is looking for volunteers to take the time over the next two weeks to shop and fill one or more backpacks.  He will see that they get distributed to the homeless shelters.  In past years, our club collected over 60  backpacks and made a real difference in the lives of a lot of homeless school kids.

Bring your contributions to the August Sunrise Rotary meetings.  If you don't feel like shopping, donate $20 or so and John will shop for you.
