Holiday Gift Program

Each year, the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise, in cooperation with the Naperville School District, collects names of children who are in need of some Holiday spirit.  The Rotarians purchase gifts for dozens of children and wrap them in time for the holidays.   There really is a Santa Claus!

Mary Ann Bobosky, the 2009 Chairperson, provided the inspiration to the club members about this worthwhile program.  The Rotary members have been very generous over the years providing over 350 gift packages in 2007, 273 gift packages and $4538 in funds in 2006, and 268 gift packages in 2005 (see below).

Every year the Naperville Sunrise Rotary Chapter provides personally purchased Holiday gifts for children in need in the Naperville School District 203. These are the children that qualifying for the free lunch program.  The number of children has steadily grown over the last 4 years, from about 90 in 2002 to over 500 in 2007.  In 2009, we are partnering with other organizations and our club has taken the names of 60 students for gifts. The total number of students exceeds 700 this year.

The program provides Holiday presents from $30 - $40 per child be purchased by sponsors, or cash provided to our Gift Team who is happy to shop with the provided funds. We are asking all Rotary members would like to assist us with funds or sponsorship. Thanks so very much. HO! HO! HO!

During the 2007 program kickoff, Leslie Day introduces her committee.  Also, Amy Barth, social worker from Naperville Central High School, and Renae Groom, counselor, talk about how much this program means to the kids of Naperville District 203 schools.

Below are a few photos of the gifts and Santa's helpers in over the last couple years.
