Distribution of raffle tickets at the March 11 meeting got our sixth annual HARLEY project off and running. The grand prize is a black 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster XL Custom, like the one shown here. It sports 1202 cc displacement, five-speed transmission, pushrod-operated overhead valves with hydraulic self-adjusting lifters, two valves per cylinder, 10:1 compression ratio and 17.4 L. fuel capacity. Woof, woof.
When selling tickets, be sure to keep the seller and buyer stubs attached.

Barb Heller
At the March 11th meeting, the Park District’s new Executive Director, Barbara Heller, outlined the District’s mission and vision. "We want to be a leader in providing leisure experiences and enhance the quality of life in Naperville," said Heller. "We’re working on a recreation Master Plan. Naperville is very land rich but facility poor, and we want to do things in accordance with what residents want," she said, adding that among her goals are operational excellence, top-notch service and leadership and good working relationships within the organization. Heller stressed that "government environments tend to foster stagnation...so providing impetus toward change and improvement is at the forefront of what we want to do, and hopefully within a year you’ll see evidence of that in terms of programs...and recreation facilities."
Historical note: Naperville residents voted to establish the park district through a public referendum in 1966.
