Naperville Sunrise Rotary to Host Working Bikes Collection in Naperville

Cleaning out the garage? On Saturday May 20th,  the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise will be collecting used bicycles for the non-profit organization Working Bikes (workingbikes.org) of Chicago.  The collection will take place from 9 AM- noon at Naperville Bank & Trust, 5 S. Washington in Downtown Naperville. The bikes will either be repaired by volunteers to be given to people in need across the Chicagoland region or shipped to charitable partners in Africa and Central America.

Working Bikes gives donated bicycles new life by redistributing them as tools of empowerment in local and global communities. Since its inception in 1999,  Working Bikes volunteers, staff, partners, and supporters have enabled new life for 100,000 bicycles across the globe and tens of thousands in Chicago. Over one hundred thousand people have been empowered to access resources and opportunities that otherwise could have been out of reach – reducing waste, lessening pollution, and improving health in the process.

The Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise hosts the St. Paddy’s Day 5K and NaperLights in Downtown Naperville each year. This summer the club will also host the Naperville Rotary Ride. Sunrise Rotary meets Fridays except the last of each month from 7-8 am for breakfast at Naperville Country Club. Guests and prospective members are welcome to join leaders, exchange ideas and take part in action to enrich our community.  See how leaders from Naperville and countries, cultures, and occupations around the world are taking action — to enhance health, empower youth, promote peace, and improve their communities.
